Mandeville School, Buckinghamshire
Driving Inspiration project work at Mandeville School
As a hub school, Mandeville School working with musician Jack Fletcher and Paralympian Naomi Riches (Rowing) will produce a series of celebratory podium music.
This music will inspire artwork in Oak Green and Bearbrook Primary Schools with artist Jon Adams and Paralympian John Harris (Discus), and a contemporary dance work at Cottlesloe Upper School and Overstone Primary School with dancer Mark Smith and Paralympian Charlie Walker (Sitting Volleyball) all exploring emotions around standing on a podium.
Pupils at each school get to interview the Paralympians and Artists following a school assembly when a large number of pupils learn about the life, work and disability of the guests. In addition to the interviews at the school project days, four MandevilleSchool pupils interviewed the 10-time Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson when she was visiting Aylesbury in September 2010 to open the lift at the Railway Station.
